Marc Jacobs manipulates the textural cross weave in
a very playful nautical/parissienne resort collection. In
my opinion some pieces are quite reflective of Marc
Jacobs aesthetic of playfulness and youth but perhaps
they are not suited to the house of Louis Vuitton- for
instance the wedge lace up sneaker.  However most
of the collection represents the works of an experienced
and talented designer.

Alber Elbaz cannot disappoint, this resort he creates utterly
feminine and flattering pieces from his tribal style flapper dresses,
stripped jumpsuits with draped sleeves and of course every
other piece that drapes elegantly on any woman making each
garment look effortless in its construction. This season Elbaz as
usual does not shy away from the accessories besides the
extravagant neck pieces we begin to see headpieces- time to
get a milliner on board the lanvin team.

The major influences of Wu's collection was sportswear and
swimwear, ofcourse I have instead chosen to focus on pieces
that are more traditionally Jason Wu's that is the tailored  and
elegant feminine pieces. He again utilises lace to create a very
refined look and who cannot dismiss the contrast canvas and
black trench coat- almost remnant of Celine and Bally but with
that extra detail that I crave.... the elbow patch and black piping.

Helmut Lang focuses on a very neutral palette for their resort
collection a very brave proposal of grey and black asymmetrical
pieces. The most intriguing pieces are perhaps the shadowed
feather printed dresses that are quite enigmatic.

Frida Giannini plays it safe with her resort collection which
is meant to reference 50's and 60's collections from the Gucci
archives, however it is perhaps more remnant of her previous
Spring/Summer 2009 collection. The drop pleated waist on
these dresses is also seemingly popular in Miuccia's most
recent Fall 2011 collection. A surprisingly refined and minimal
resort collection.

Giambattista Valli takes on new proportions and volumes for
this resort collection, he combines vibrant colours with
ethnic tribal prints in a look that remains simple and austere.
The coats are particularly outstanding with their colour
blocked stripes and structural volumes.

Erdem's flower powered resort collection was filled with
the expected splash of colour and digital prints that has
become synonymous with their name. This collection
demonstrated a delicate approach with lace prints and
soft tones harmoniously teamed with those stunning
printed pumps.

Derek Lam ventures into the sportswear territory for his resort
collection with colour blocked geometries with tones of toffee,
electric blues and denims- a casual and bold resort collection.

Diane Von Fursternberg's resort collection was ofcourse
colourful and filled with vibrant prints as to be expected.
What remain innovative in this colleciton is the the dynamic
graphics that were almost grafitti or mambo like in their
dramatic black and whites. A very youthful approach.

Lagerfield pays homage to Coco Chanel in this resort
collection with his use of the signature monochromatic
black and white tones and of course a sea of colourful
tweed suits. He explores with geometric patterns and
contrasting fabrics and tones.... not to sure about the
thong boots however. I have to say though that this resort
collection doesn't compare to the amazing 2011 resort!

Still a minamalist at heart Pheobe Philo presents a unique
debut resort collection for celine filled with bold colours
and materials the standout piece though would have to
be the leather patchwork and carefully colour blocked
coat simply because it comes as a suprise as it is
inconsistent with Philo's work, is this a taste of what is to
come for the spring collection ahead?

Christopher Bailey's creates a collection where each singular
pieces manifests details and craftsmanship that is progressive
in his own design aesthetic and the house of Burberry. Perhaps
one of my favourite collections from Bailey to date from the
colours; the beads; the patterns; the embelishments where does
one start and end, an exciting direction for Bailey.

Bailey's resort collection for men was playful with its
colourful geometric patterns with perhaps a tribal
influence in both colour and graphics. It represents an
incredibly unique and pracitcal direction for mens
fashion. The colour palette is simply flawless!

I think it is only fair to say that I have secret crush on
Pheobe Philo, I mean what woman wouldn't! She knows
exactly what a woman wants..... and of course there is
no exception with her new resort collection, I couldn't
even narrow the collection down to three pieces - instead
dividing it into two categories.The dresses/skirts in this
collection would have to be the best she has designed for
Celine for many reasons from the leather, the two-tones,
the subtle colours, the large buckle cinched at the waist
it just looks so damn good! Her pieces never fail to instill an
air of empowerment and elegance.

Tomas Maier's collection was incredibly refreshing- the
layered colour blocked silk and chiffon in its dramatic
colour combinations are almost a prerequistie to any resort
collection, the restrain of the desgin exudes a sophistication
and elegance in Maier's skills.

Ricardo Tisci continues with his floral print exploration following
his violet infused fall collection for Givenchy. However this
resort we see a tropical influence with a psychedelic digital print.
The tailoring has a sporty approach that is structured in the
chest and shoulders. A fun and modern collection for Tisci.

As the new designers at Bally and this being their first
resort collection Graeme Filder and Michael Herz
continue to demonstrate a language of design that is
consistent and well suited to the house of Bally. 
Considering their previous collections focused on the
accessory and leathergoods - this collection however
focuses on using leather in the ready to wear, here we
see lovely juxtapositions of leather, suedes and cotton.
The geometric prints take the house into new territory
with their luminous colours.

I am very much a minimalist at heart and usually the ornate and
embelished aesthetic of Emilio Pucci doesn't appeal to me.
However one cannot go past these vibrant suits in his resort
collection- the straight leg pants vs the single and double breasted
jacket is tailored exquisitely with fine details such as the patch
pocket and the brass buttons a very flattering range.

I'm not sure if I am drawn to the photography, colours or the
stripes or just all of the above. Benz presents an exuberant
collection where stripes are clashed with prints in an
exquisite palette of colours.

Ghesquiere's homage to Cristobal's volume exploration will
continue to remain key to his success at the house- this season
he plays with umbrella skirts and balloon shorts, however
the way Ghesquiere continues to amazes me is in the execution
of material choice to emphaise volume..... a very clever man.

Jonny Johansson presents a new approach in his resort
collection - it references the tailoring of the 50's but infuses
it with a 60's palette. The colour blocking and the three
quarter pants beneath the dress is such a great combination,
I would happily be seen in any of these outfits!

Yeojin bae's collection for spring summer almost had
me confused with a Cacharel collection- In my opinion
Bae has a very French influenced aesthetic, elegant and
feminine. The floral print in this  collection reminded me
of a very 60's marimekko print, however much more refined
and wearable.

Plunkett and Sales never seem to fail with each collection,
progressing and evolving to become Australia's most creative
and innovative designers. This collection uses themes from
the medieval times, to grecian godess to a reoccuring theme of
my 80's fav..... the never ending story.  I do adore the white

Therese Rawsthorne collection ticked all my boxes;
colour, leather, tailored jackets and a subtle print
...im not hard to please- of course these are the key
trends at the moment and she executes them well,

Richard Poulson and Kylie Radford present a flawless
collection that is incredibly feminine, the colour palette
very sharp with whites, burnt oranges, beige and mustard-
it transported me to Hermes' recent fall 2012 collection.
Each look seemed to represent a contrast of structured vs
draped- as clearly demonstrated in the three looks above.

Camilla and Marc's spring summer 2012 show covered all
bases from the opulent to the bold modern- the range was
quite broad with rather tenuous links for example the rather
neutral metallic brocade to the bold and bright prints matched
with colour blocked pieces; two very different looks brought
together in this maximalist collection.

Lover's spring collection was driven by dramatic red
overtones and delicate lace details- a tailored and refined
collection that was reminiscent of givenchy's spring/
summer 2011 collection or stella mc cartney's winter 2010. 
A very dramatic collection for lover but I have preferred
previous collections.

Ellery's current fall collection has a sophisticated sculpted
treatment on her delicately embellished garments. They are
minimal yet with subtly detailed, a progressive collection for
the young designer.

Karla Spetic explores art nouveau motifs and patterns
in her new collection with bold and exciting pastel hues
in sixties influenced collection. The palette and graphic are
elegantly composed and remind me of textiles produced
by Florence Broadhurst.

Kirrily Johnston's spring collection was consistent and
restrained, her minimalist approach continues to produce
new and innovative pieces - here she executes delicate
tonal contrasts draped in silk that are utterly feminine but then
creates pieces with an approach that is very much the opposite
with masculine and bold structures using leather.

Perhaps internationally one of the most talked about collections,
Josh Goot's collection was compelling, a modern and very
directional collection. Goot explores bold splashes of graphic,
saturated colours and structure on a white canvas that provides
a dramatic contrast. There are too many things to love in this
collection from the proportions and volumes of the skirt to the
neoprene tops and well ofcourse those candy striped heels on
the open toe pastel boots.

Gary Bigeni's collection was infused with an array
of colour but what caught my attention were the
burnt orange pieces assembled together with tan
leather and a more neutral palette- they demonstrated
a more sophisticated and refined palette approach.
This collection would have to be one of his best interms
of direction and evolution.

Since Dion Lee's debut his minimalist approach has remained
consistent amongst all his collections, this collection however
has a more sculptural approach rather than his traditional
modernist tailoring that has become a given in all his works.
I would have appreciated the collection in its entirety if there
was a more in depth exploration of the sculpted and three
dimensional approach consistently applied to most of the
pieces.

Dhini's spring summer collection in my opinion has a
new approach in comparison to her previous collections-
instead of the structured and heavily tailored pieces she
takes on a more delicate and soft composition for her
garments in this collection, with bursts of colour that are
refreshingly tasteful.

Nicole Brundage's Acrobats of God spring/summer
2011 collection is a true demonstration of her talent
and invaluable experience in design. Her acrobats
of god range maximises the permutations of elastic
on her uppers- it becomes a playful exploration of
weaving and colour mixing to assemble these
innovative pieces, I only regret not purchasing from
her earlier collections with wood and elastane

Pilati's collection brought back the essence of what was
Yves Saint Laurent with a meticulously elegant collection.
The printed pieces is what caught my eye with the prince
of wales checks and the pixelated electric blue graphic in
simple knee high coats or dresses that were quite visually
dramatic.

Pilati's fall collection for Yves Saint Laurent was simple
and refined- with the exception of the shoes which
were boundlessly embellished and sculpted, in my
opinion the designs represented an art deco and almost
80's influence. Perhaps a little surprising coming from
Stefano.

Vivienne brings to us these twisted characters for her fall
collection- each look represents a character from Westwood's
wild imagination- some masculine, some ornately feminine, some
refined well the list goes on. Westwood's palette of materials,
patterns and colour continue to remain consistent and practical.

Viktor and Rolf's fall collection placed emphasis on armours and
structured forms- these pieces in particular leave me speechless. They
almost remind me of an Ernst Haeckel sketch, they are organic but quite
rigidly sculptured at the same time. A visual feast quite realistically - it
should be displayed in a gallery

Vanessa Bruno's fall collection had a Russian influence with
her floor drapping coats with tones of browns, musk and blue
with bold details of stripes or a central graphic or fur lapels. The
head scarves gave the collection a peasant aesthetic restrained and
austere without to much attention drawn to a singular piece.

Jun Takahashi's fall 2011 collection for undercover was
simple and understated with refined panelling applied to
knitwear and zipper attachments used to define forms.
The focus was on heavy knitwear and velvets - a
luxurious winter range.

 Tsumori Chisato's fall collection was filled with the usual
colourful and eclectic aesthetic that remains her signature.
The pieces that resonate with me are the autumn hue
pieces striped, textured and patchworked to create
a complexity of layers you would never imagine putting
together- her work is like a collage that shes seems to
artistically compose each season.

 What remains iconic to this collection for me is the
accentuation of the curvaceous hourglass proportions
from the arms to the hips, McCartney texturizes these
minimal crew neck pieces with reflective gold, fine
pleats and leather. It represents a progressive and
futuristic approach to her tailoring unlike her other
collections.

Stella McCartney's fall collection of bags is simple and
bold- the plexi glass or perspex clutch is not an innovative
piece as previously explored by Fendi, Mcqueen, or
Charlotte Olympia, however the innovative approach of this
purse lies in its form as previous designers attempt to
maintain the typical appearance of a purse McCartney
chooses to instead use pure forms of prisms and cylinders
without trying to appear to be a bag.

A Sonia Rykiel collection never fails to excite me, the way
the looks are composed and layered are so clever and
practical- this collection we see Rykiel mix miltary cuts with
English argyle and tartans prints, the colours palette is always
refreshing with tones of khaki, indigo, taupe and toffee browns
a 70's revival of colours.

Marco Zanini's fall 2011 collection for Rochas transported
me  back to the 60's to designs from the likes of Pierre
Cardin or Cristobal Balenciaga- particularly the coats in
their proportions and volumes and most of all the hats, it
wasn't only the coats that demonstrated a 60's influence but
the shift dresses and A-line skirts.

Rick Owens fall collection for 2011 would have to be for me
my favourite of all of his collections with such a glamorously
austere aesthetic with floor draping capes and a subtle palette
of grey, taupe and browns that unite in harmonious outfits. His
details are almost architectural with the keyed in leather
patchwork and heavy single pleats. A practical and wearable
collection from Owens.

Rick Owens statement shoes are always are key element
to his collections these wedge boots are dramatic with
its towering uninterrupted wedge platform with gathered
fronts- Owens uses leather in a unique way sculpturing

Neil Barrett's masculine coats for fall 2011 are an elegantly
tailored range of coats with sharp angular lapels and flattering
lengths. The details are restrained and refined with the only
embelishment and extravagance being the fur trims- a bold
coat for the winter.
