Olivier Rousteing delivers his debut collection for balmain,
a strong and consistent collection with a strength and
androgyny that maintains the legacy of Christophe Decarnin's
aesthetic since the rebirth of balmain in 2007. The collection
is a visual feast of beads, pattern and gold that alludes to a
modern tribal woman amongst our urban jungle.

Pedro Lourenco's debut resort collection has placed
this young Brazilian on the map- besides the tropical
prints I would rather draw attention to these pieces
with the primary coloured graphics that fold and
reveal - his use of colour and leather is profound.
Lourenco is almost a hybrid of the creative minds Nicolas
Ghesquire and Peter Pilotto

Diane Von Fursternberg's resort collection was ofcourse
colourful and filled with vibrant prints as to be expected.
What remain innovative in this colleciton is the the dynamic
graphics that were almost grafitti or mambo like in their
dramatic black and whites. A very youthful approach.

Dries Van Noten fall collection doesn't fail to present the
unique and iconic prints that have become notorious to his
work, in keeping with the theme of the collection 'collage'
Dries composes and carefully coordinates strong geometric
prints in dramatic tones of indigo, coral, yellow and
mmonochromatic tones of black and white, a feast for the
eyes much like the shoes which are entirely different
composition of materials and textures, it is the maximalist
collection.

Jonathan Saunders again masters the art of colour mixing in his new
fall collection with a clever play with geometric prints with an
almost escher famililarity to them. I particularly enjoy the classic
1930's pieces he choses in this collection such as the pencil
skirt and 3 buttoned suit jacket or coat. A fun contrast of
classic vs geometry.

Proenza Schouler's Jack and Larry have left me speechless
with this collection- it is a progressive approach that demonstrates
their sheer talent and extrodinary attention to detail. The craftsmanship
alone is worthy of much praise, the woven details of the pants represent
a quality uncomparable. Yes I know I am giving them much praise but it
 is well due. The collection explores aztec prints but with a contemporary
approach using digital prints to manipulate them. The colours are
incredibly relevant to the aztec theme and are exquistely blocked and
matched. This is guranteed to be my favourite collection for Fall 2011.

best of tina kalivas spring/summer 2010 collection

spring summer 2010 'hive mind' 
a play on pixel geometries and their colours, cuts and forms.
A clever combination considering the typical play with pixel
geometries don't go beyond the fabric's print, however
kalivas takes it into the next dimension.

best of balenciaga resort 2011 collection times three

nicholas ghesquière describes his resort collection for balenciaga as a "techno boheme" however I would describe it as 'modern retro' as this collection resonates with a 60's retro colour palette, tailoring and geometric prints. It is a very typical backward forward approach for the house of cristobal balenciaga. All in all a fun and playful resort collection
